Sous Chef

Experience Required: 1 year kitchen leadership experience in fine dining; 5+ years of kitchen
experience total, preferred.

Job Description: The Sous Chef is the Executive Chef’s right hand. This position will require the
candidate to oversee and execute the daily operations of the BOH, as well as lead and inspire
the BOH staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • motivating, training, developing, and overseeing the BOH team
  • ensuring stations are clean and efficient
  • working a station when necessary
  • creating and executing a daily prep list
  • assisting with ordering as needed
  • maintaining OSHA and DHEC guidelines
  • using proper coaching and feedback techniques

Pastry Chef

Experience Required: 3 years experience in baking and dessert production.

Job Description: The Pastry Chef is the genius behind the pastries and desserts. The ideal candidate will deliver tasty works of art for our guests.

  • Create and implement dessert menu
  • ensuring all mise en place is completed and accessible

Station Chef

Experience Required: 1 year kitchen experience, preferred.

Job Description: The Station Chef is responsible for the organization and execution of his or her designated station behind the line and is crucial to the success of the service.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • completion of mise en place for the station responsible
  • holding the standard set for cleanliness and organization
  • execute the menu
  • ensuring each dish meets expectations

Prep Chef

Experience Required: 1 year kitchen experience, preferred.

Job Description: The Prep Chef takes on the responsibility of setting up the Head Chef, Sous, and their team for success. This superhero ensures that ingredients and certain dishes needed for service are prepped and ready to rock.

  • ensuring the preparedness of the kitchen as a whole for each and every service

Steward

Experience Required: none

Job Description: The Steward keeps the kitchen running smoothly by maintaining a safe, clean, and organized environment. Stewards are of immense importance to the success of the service and help to maintain the sanity of the entire staff.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • maintenance, organization, and cleanliness of the kitchen
  • cleaning dishes as needed and assisting in returning clean dishes to their proper place

Host/Hostess

Experience Required: none

Job Description: Our hosts and hostesses are the first people that our guests meet and interact with. These individuals represent the culture of Rootimentary by being friendly, courteous, and helpful.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • manage the flow of guests
  • direct guests to their seats
  • answering the phone
  • taking reservations, as needed
  • exude kindness, hospitality, and warmth in every interaction with every guest.

Server

Experience Required: none; 1 year restaurant experience, preferred.

Job Description: Servers receive the most face time with our guests and are vital to our culture. In addition to serving the guests needs, this position will require each candidate to suggest wine pairings, memorize specials, and dazzle guests with his or her sparkling personality. Personality and thoughtfulness are key for this position.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • prompt food and beverage delivery
  • knowledge of menu, ingredients, and any information provided by the Food and Beverage Manager
  • polite and courteous disposition
  • verify ID to ensure legal drinking age requirements are met
  • properly and securely process payments

Bartender

(must be at least 21 years of age)

Experience Required: 3 year bartending experience; extensive wine and beer knowledge.

Job Description: The Bartender is the artist that mixes, pours, and serves our delightful selection of alcoholic beverages while maintaining a fun, friendly, and classy atmosphere for our guests.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • ensure bar is set up for each service
  • maintaining bar cleanliness and organization
  • overseeing beverage quality
  • maintain consistency in drink recipes
  • verify ID to ensure legal drinking age requirements are met
  • properly and securely process payments

Food and Beverage Manager

Experience Required: 2+ years management experience; 4+ years restaurant service experience; thorough knowledge of beer and wine.

Job Description: The F&B Manager makes our world go ‘round. This individual is responsible for overseeing the ordering and inventory procedures as related to the bar and FOH, as well as ensuring that the quality of our products meets our highest standards. Most importantly, this position allows for plenty of face-time with the guests, creating relationships and ensuring all guests’ expectations are exceeded. Of tantamount importance is this person’s ability to influence, inspire, and add value to the people around him or her.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • team building and development by inspiring and motivating staff
  • manage the tasks and responsibilities of the service staff
  • maintaining proper inventory level of beer, wine, liquor, additional mixers, and small wares and equipment for the bar

Service Lead

Experience Required: 1 year restaurant experience; 1 year leadership experience.

Job Description: The Service lead is someone who motivates the team and helps to manage the operations regarding service. This person assists both the servers and the F&B manager to ensure the highest level of service is being delivered to each guest.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • lead the service staff by overseeing the flawless execution of service
  • coaching and giving feedback under the leadership of the food and beverage manager
